Our client is one of the key developers of wind and solar project in LATAM and the world. An international company putting its efforts to increase the volume of green energy in emerging markets. For their offices in Santiago de Chile we are now looking for an experienced energy resource associate with experience in the analysis of wind and solar data essencial for the successful development of a large scale energy project.

Your main responsibilities in this position will include:

  • Production of internal wind and solar Energy Production Estimates with the highest possible accuracy and lowest possible uncertainty; this includes the application of a high degree of engineering judgement and internal quality control.
  • Management, review and signing-off of third party energy production reports and site conditions reports.
  • Wind farm turbine layout and solar farm design and energy optimisation.
  • Design of optimal site-specific measurement campaigns for wind and solar sites, including cost/benefit assessments of different technologies.
  • Oversee installation, maintenance and decommissioning of temporary meteorological masts, LiDARs, and solar measurement stations.
  • Oversee the collection and quality control of meteorological data to ensure maximum data coverage and minimum uncertainty.
  • Ensure meteorological station contractors comply with relevant safety and technical requirements.
  • Liaise with turbine suppliers to ensure optimal modelling of technology, and technology suitability.

The perfect candidate will be a :

  • Graduate with an honours engineering or physical science degree as a minimum
  • Around 2 years of ideally pre-construction Energy Analysis experience.
  • Experience in both wind and solar energy analysis, including use of LiDAR data.
  • Experience comparing wind farm production to preconstruction estimates.
  • Experience working for a lenders’ advisor, OEM supplier, developer, or operator of wind and/or solar projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, a strong mathematical and analysis background, and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical colleagues are essential.
  • Highly analytical with attention to detail and ability to exercise engineering judgement.
  • Programming with Python and experience with PANDAS for Python.
  • Experience in MS Office especially Excel.
  • Experience in the use of WAsP, WindFarmer, AWS Openwind.
  • Experience in use of PVsyst or other solar design and solar resource assessment software.
  • Experience with non-linear wind flow models is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel; sometimes internationally, and to sites which are in generally remote areas.
  • Fluency in English. Afrikaans an advantage.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Motivated and self-starter attitude with desire to support continued improvement.
